How to get to the Olympic Beach: Travel Guide

Thinking of visiting the Olympic Beach and wondering what's the best way to get there? Whether you're coming from Athens, Thessaloniki or abroad, there are several transportation options that will make your trip comfortable and easy.

By car

the most comfortable way

If you love the freedom of travel, then a car is the best option! Olympic Beach is located in Pieria, a short distance from the Athens-Thessaloniki National Road (A1/E75).

From Thessaloniki: The route is about 70 km and takes less than an hour.

From Athens: The distance is 440 km and the journey takes about 4.5 hours.

There are several toll stations along the route, so it is advisable to carry change or use an e-pass for fast transit.

By train

Comfort and a beautiful journey

 

Katerini train station caters for those who prefer the train. If you're travelling from Athens or Thessaloniki, you can take the suburban train or the long-distance Hellenic Train services.

From Athens: The Intercity Express brings you to Katerini in about 4 hours.

From Thessaloniki: The journey takes just 30-40 minutes.

From Katerini station, Olympic Beach is only 7 km away and you can get there by taxi or bus.

By bus

cheap and easy solution

The Pieria Bus Station offers regular services from major cities, such as Thessaloniki and Athens, to Katerini. From there, you can take the local bus or taxi to Olympic Beach.

From Athens: The trip takes about 5 hours.

From Thessaloniki: The trip is about 1 hour.

Summer route: In summer, there is a direct bus from Thessaloniki that brings you directly to the Olympic Beach.

By plane

for travellers from abroad

 

If you're coming from abroad, the closest airport is Macedonia Airport (SKG) in Thessaloniki. From there, you can rent a car, take a train or bus to Katerini and then continue on to the Olympic Beach.

Once you arrive, the drive from Thessaloniki to Olympic Beach takes about an hour and is quite scenic — especially as you get closer to the coastline and catch glimpses of Mount Olympus. It’s an easy and enjoyable trip that sets the tone for the relaxed vibes waiting for you at Pupu Beach Cantina.

Travel with no stress
